Migrating to Ably from an existing service
Round-trip latency and performance
Ably is able to provide very low latency messaging globally through our 15+ data centres and 180+ edge acceleration points of presence, spread across four continents, and our intelligent shortest route message routing technology.
Round trip latencies, measured as time taken to publish a message on one connection and receive a message on another connection, typically range from 5ms to 200ms, with a median of 46ms globally. This will obviously vary depending on your location, proximity to our data centres, quality if your connection etc.
We continuously monitor the performance of our service with real browsers and devices from over 140 locations globally, using a third party service Uptrends. You can see our current latency stats here.
